The YWLCS organizes a number of programs throughout the school year in which students' families are invited to come to the school. At these events, families get to meet the faculty and staff, get to know other YWLCS students and their families, and learn about the exciting learning that is going on. The programs include Family Math Night, Family Reading Night, Family Barbeque, Family Holiday Potluck and the annual Math/Science/Tech Fair.
The FAC is made up of a core group of parents/guardians, staff, and chairs of the various committees. The FAC is open to all parents and families interested in shaping the ways in which parents can and should be involved in the educational process at YWLCS.
Family Advisory Council meetings are held once a month.
This support group is open to all YWLCS family members who serve as primary caregivers in place of the student's biological parents. The meetings provide a space for participants to share their experiences, gain support, and strengthen their connection to the YWLCS community. Extended Family Support Group meetings are held once a month.
The Institute was initiated by the FAC to provide parent-to-parent support and education programming. Programming is developed by setting priorities for each of our four YWLCS pillars:
Scheduled conferences with parents occur at the end of each trimester.
When a student enrolls at YWLCS she and her family gain access to Schoolfusion, an online program where students and their parents can log-in and get up-to-date information about classes, homework, grades, and upcoming events.
